I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a mother of four amazing kids. In June 2010 our lives were turned upside down when my youngest daughter, Claire, was diagnosed with Stage IV Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare childhood cancer, at the age of 16. She fought vigorously for 20 months and sadly left this world in March 2012 when she was 18 years old and a senior in high school. This experience has changed me forever, professionally and personally, and while it does not define me, it continues to impact my life on a daily basis. Part of my process is to put into words the inexplicable thoughts, emotions and concepts that I encounter along the way. My hope is that the words I write will resonate with those who read them and bring connection through the human experience knowing we are not alone.
I also want to thank my daughter, Hannah Frick, for letting me use a photo of one of her beautiful paintings to adorn the top of this site.

I am glad to see you are still writing. I have followed the CBsite since Claire was diagnosed. Thank you for offering Claire, yourself and your family to a of us. I also will switch to the blog but keep on CB also, for whatever you are posting here.
